Segment 1: Ride Day 2

Route: Savannah, GA (Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church) to Claxton, GA (First Baptist Church of Claxton)… this is pronounced “Clackston”… with emphasis on the “clack”
Distance: 54.77 miles
Ride Time: 3hrs: 33 mins
Average Speed: 15.3 mph
Max Speed: 31.2 mph
Weather: Pretty darn humid but not too bad overall with some lovely clouds and a little shower or two… also a nice tailwind and pretty straight roads meant some smooth sailing!

Highlights:
  • So good to get on the bike and really pound out some miles today. The flat road and tailwind admittedly helped with this, but really it felt good! Also, it is still amazing and wonderful to bike with other people!
  • I had the first official flat of the trip so far – 7 miles from our host church, good solid staple right through the tire, 4 other riders stopped and had the flat changed in no time (all I had to do is flip over the bike, pull out the spare and stand aside!)
Ryan tells the story of the FCBA - we are a very attentive class, of course.

There was a man in a kilt playing bagpipes to celebrate
Founder's Day for this church, which was established in 1827. Amazing.
